Table Button Makeover

This old table needed a new life, and Goodwill is filled with little cheap tables that need a new life! It doesn’t have to cost a lot of money or take a lot of time, either. This table had a couple of broken drawers and to repair first, and then I solicited help from my kids to cover the top of it with buttons. The whole project took less than an hour. Here’s how we did it.

Supplies: Buttons and glue

How-to

  1. We first cleaned the top of the table.
  2. Next, we found a clear glue. I’ve never used this Loctite craft glue before, but it worked great. We just spread a thin layer over the wood and then pressed the buttons down.
  3. We worked in small sections because the glue started drying pretty fast. It all dried clear and we didn’t have any clean up, so that was nice, too.
  4. Now the tables sits under a window near my computer desk. The entire thing cost about $15. I spent $10 on colorful buttons off of eBay and then the glue was another $3-5. If you’re lucky, you could find an old jar of buttons at Goodwill, too.
